Brian Hall

Brian Hall is a Chartered Accountant who has spent a long career in the oil and gas industry, dating back to the early days of the northern North Sea when he was a member of a very small team which developed Argyll, the UK North Sea’s first producing oil field. Subsequently he co-founded a consulting and contracting company which worked on offshore loading and related projects in 28 countries. In 1991 he created Aminex PLC in its present form and achieved a premium listing on the London Exchange in 1995. Aminex has operated wells in the USA, Russia, Pakistan and Tanzania and participated in exploration activities in many parts of the world. He also serves as Chairman of Great Western Mining Corporation PLC.

Jay Bhattacherjee
Executive Director

Jay Bhattacherjee is a Reservoir Engineer with 18 years experience in the upstream oil and gas industry. In the earlier part of his career he worked for Pengrowth, Apache, and the Bank of Nova Scotia. Subsequently he was VP Operations at Longreach Oil and Gas Ltd. and participated in its growth from start-up funded by private capital through to listing on the TSX Venture Exchange and a doubling of its market capitalisation. Prior to becoming CEO at Aminex in late 2013 he was a co-founder of privately-owned Canyon Oil & Gas Ltd. which was later acquired by Aminex. Since joining Aminex he has made substantial progress with the group’s Tanzanian portfolio, bringing the Kiliwani North gas field on-stream and drilling a significant gas appraisal well in the onshore Ruvuma Basin. He has introduced a cornerstone strategic investor, eliminated corporate debt, strengthened the technical team and completed successful equity issues.

Max Williams
Executive Director

Max Williams is a director of the Company and its Chief Financial Officer. He is a Chartered Accountant and joined Aminex from the accounting profession in 1994, progressing through all phases of its financial management, initially in Russia and more recently in the Company’s African ventures. He has overseen the legal and regulatory aspects of numerous equity projects and other financing activities for the Company and is responsible for the Group’s accounting and treasury functions. He also serves as Company Secretary.

Keith Phair
Non-executive Director

Keith Phair has spent the majority of his career with major international banks, with senior global product management positions in capital markets. He holds a MBA from The London Business School and has acted as a capital markets consultant to major companies and pension funds, also advising on strategic issues. He has been an active and engaged investor in various oil and gas exploration companies for many years. He was appointed a Director in October 2009.

Ola Fjeld
Non-executive Director

Ola Fjeld has 30+ years of diverse industry experience in Norway and internationally. He has worked for large international service companies as well as starting an oil and gas software company VoxelVision. The company was acquired by Schlumberger and the technologies from VoxelVision and GigaViz forms the seismic interpretation parts of the world leading G&G software package Petrel. He is currently the Chief Operating Officer of ARA Petroleum LLC responsible for two subsidiary E&P companies operating in Oman. He holds a Master’s degree from NTNU, Norway.

Tom Mackay
Non-executive Director

Tom Mackay is a Geologist/Petroleum Engineer with a successful career in petroleum operations, management and financing. With a BSc (Hons) in geology from Durham University, he began his career as a Petroleum Engineer with Shell and subsequently moved on to Clyde Petroleum PLC where he became Manager at Existing Ventures until it was acquired by Gulf Canada in 1997. Since then he has been an active petroleum consultant on acquisition and new venture projects with a wide range of clients, including Petrofac and Enquest. For a period he served as CEO of a private E&P company, Oil Quest, and from 2002-2007 he held senior management positions at Stratic Energy Corporation. He is currently a Partner in Gemini Oil & Gas Advisors LLP which acts as technical and financial advisor to the Gemini Oil & Gas Funds, investing in global appraisal and development projects.

John Bell
Non-executive Director

John Bell is a Chartered Engineer with over 30 years experience in the energy sector having worked at Vice President or Managing Director level at BP, Statoil AS and Suncor Energy (Syria).

He has spent a large part of his career in the Middle East, as well as time in North Africa, FSU, the Americas, the UK North Sea, Scandinavia & the Caribbean. Mr Bell has a First Class Honours Degree in Engineering from Strathclyde University in Scotland and studied Executive Leadership at Haas Business School, University of Berkeley California. Previous public company directorships include Gulfkeystone Petroleum, Tethys Petroleum and he is currently Managing Director of Gulfsands Petroleum.
